 Revive and Set Out Again-to All the People of Lenovo

On the occasion of the first workday of 2016, I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to you, for your industrious contributions and endeavors in the past years. Thanks to your great efforts, we remained a stable advancement in a new normality characterized by drastic market change and industrial transition, and in spite of two big business mergers at the same time.

Just at the moment, what I want to share with you most, in this tremendous internet era witnessing frequently modified traditional business forms and the unprecedented violent and quick survival of the fittest nowadays, is the proper mission, mental state, action should be carried with to welcome the New Year!

What’s the mission in the New Year?

Internet is the primary productive force

Before answering the problem, we must soberly aware that such changes: internet has brought about tremendous changes to the operation mode of traditional enterprises, which is breaking up traditional organizational form and makes business management more light, flat and efficient. It focuses the core resources of enterprise to goods’ perfect design and quality experience and considers public praise as key. With the help of internet, online sales has become powerful supplementary for traditional offline marketing channels and a double marketing channel has been promoted simultaneously. In addition, internet vastly narrows the distance between enterprises and users and can make each segment of the enterprise value chain and its employees have a direct interaction with users and the feedbacks from users could be grasped in real time. Therefore, these changes have been emerged for a long time beyond human will.

The past years had witnessed our endeavors and some accomplishments on internet transformation. However, there is still a long way to go before attaining the goal of fully embracing internet. In the coming New Year, we need to accelerate the transformation of internet in each segment of the business operation as well as deliberate our business, flow and management in a view of internet. We should cope with the shocks and challenges from internet through vigorous innovation and steadfast transformation, whether it is product development and design, manufacturing, marketing or services.

Business operation should be customer-oriented

In the internet era, we should be customer-oriented instead of the past philosophy product-centered. We should further systematically build a mechanism in communicating with our customers, as well as establish a long-term platform for the communication with users, by taking full advantage of social media. What’s more, the culture of fans should be set up to make friends with them, and keep a close relationship with them through by fan club, on-line forum and regular activities for fans etc. Besides, each staff of Lenovo should serve as the ambassador of propagation and promote our products in your own media platform and interact with our customers. Our product manager should go deep into each subdivided customer base to keep a close communication with them, listen to their feedbacks and learn about their expectation for the next-generation product. In regard to user service, we will further build a O2O mode in the field of service and serve our customers with a brand new manner.

Career is grounded in high quality products

Regardless of what’s type and industry of a company, good products and service are always first and foremost. The root cause for Lenovo’s success in the PC sector not only comes from the innovation and leading fashion in accordance with customers’ requirements, but also owns to the excellent quality of our products. In today’s internet era, public praise shows unprecedented significance in a growing trend of consumption. Only with boutique, the potential consumers could be won. In the New Year, So, the issues how to create high value brands and products and how to make enticing products in mobile sector will be extremely highlighted by us in the New Year.

Consciousness for the best and endless innovation leads to excellent products. Besides practicing internal capacity, we should break the former various restrictions regarding product development. The last year saw the coming into effect of “super product manager” and this year, a bigger and faster pace will be expected. We should establish numbers of squads featuring fast response, high-speed decision and quick action to understand the front customers. Meanwhile, the back-end products and technologies should be researched and grasped to create better customer experience with technical innovation besides meanwhile lowering costs and lifting values.

Good products are also based on perspective vision and firm belief. Along the technical direction of smart connectivity, we should implement the five connections between device and people, device and network, device and device, device and data, as well as device and application. On the basis, taking the advantage of being device manufacturer, we still cooperate with other manufactures to develop smarter terminal with “cloud brain”. This is the so-called “next-generation artificial intelligence terminal” mentioned by me not long ago in the world internet conference held in Wuzhen, which will create a smarter new life for each person and family.
To vigorously struggle for the new year with original intention

“The most of the legends in the world are merely made by the action from persistence.” The original thought of Insistence and persistence is the force for Lenovo to succeed in the past three decades.

As the first batch of earliest startup companies originally from the reception office of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in the area of Zhongguangcun and even in the whole country, Lenovo has built its international brand and global influence today by virtue of the fierce competition with great efforts in the market at home and abroad, in its way to advancement, adhering to attic faith and the obsessiveness of making it perfect.

Will we have reason to enjoy the glory of the present size? Will we only focus on today’s business diversification instead of an overall situation? Will we only follow the prescribed order and give up hungry wolf nature and the spirit of going upstream relying on today’s profound internationalization? Of course not!  The disappeared giant enterprises have alarmed us thoroughly. The failures come from the ignorance for the change in market, the dismissing attitude for udders, seeking quick success and instant benefits and maybe a slightly slow step, regardless of your mega scale. What we should do next is to be aware, to keep going and to urgently consider your each workday for with a mentality of doom and insatiable, so as to remain invincible. It doesn’t suffer from imagery fears but truly fits for the current enterprise involved with industrial transition, market change, as well as complicated merger and acquisition.

Just in this year, we will need sufficient mental preparation to undergo harsh challenges and strive for the further improvement of efficiency in a slumped computer market. In addition, enterprise-level business and mobile business will turn into our new engine for growth and profit resources. We should pay more efforts. However, different from the past, we have possessed correct strategy and firm belief. Apart from enhancing core business, we’ll invest our future. Meanwhile, we are carrying out positive transformation to assure more powerful execution. “The person shows his strength by defeating others, and mightiness by defeating himself.”It’s not a best stage to witness the achievements of Lenovo. In fact, it’s a period full of most changes and the maximal space for growth. For all people of Lenovo, I wish 2016 will be the year to revive and march forward and let’s cheer up for 2016!
